JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Auditor will be responsible for carrying out thorough financial and operational audits to ensure compliance with internal policies, statutory regulations, and international standards. The role demands a tech‑savvy professional with proven experience in accounting software and modern audit tools. The Auditor will check receipts and supporting documents, query transactions where necessary, monitor team compliance, and ensure proper handling of both local and international currency transactions. This is a full‑time role with a salary range of ₦200,000 – ₦250,000 monthly, based on experience and performance.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Financial & Transactional Audit:

  • Examine and verify financial records, receipts, invoices, and payment vouchers for accuracy and compliance.
  • Raise queries or enquiries on unclear, suspicious, or unsupported transactions.
  • Audit local and foreign currency transactions, ensuring proper conversion rates and documentation.

Internal Controls & Oversight:

  • Monitor and assess departmental processes (sales, inventory, procurement, admin) for adherence to policies.
  • Micro‑manage or closely supervise critical processes where risk of error or fraud is high.
  • Recommend improvements to strengthen internal control systems.

Technology & Tools:

  • Utilize accounting and audit software for reviewing records and generating reports.
  • Maintain electronic audit trails and leverage data analysis tools for accuracy and efficiency.
  • Train and guide junior staff or colleagues on basic compliance with these tools.

Reporting & Documentation:

  • Prepare clear, comprehensive audit reports with findings, risks identified, and recommended actions.
  • Keep well‑organized digital and physical records of audit evidence and working papers.
  • Follow up on resolution of queries and ensure management decisions are implemented.

Compliance & Advisory:

  • Stay updated with national tax laws (e.g., FIRS, VAT, PAYE) and international financial reporting standards (IFRS).
  • Provide advisory input on areas that require policy adjustments.
  • Support external auditors or regulatory checks by supplying accurate records.

KEY QUALIFICATIONS & ATTRIBUTES:

  • Experience: Minimum of 2–3 years in audit, accounting, or related field.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in accounting software (QuickBooks, Sage, Tally, or similar).
  • Analytical Skills: Ability to spot errors, investigate discrepancies, and propose solutions.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Able to query or correct staff tactfully and ensure compliance without conflict.
  • Commitment: Detail‑oriented, proactive, and willing to oversee critical operations when necessary.
  • International Mindset: Comfortable auditing transactions in both local and international currencies.
  • Tech Savvy: Adept at using spreadsheets, ERPs, and digital tools for reporting.
